Leneigh & Geoff - Engagement Shots

November 8, 2008 | Filed Under engagement | 2 Comments

Last month I took the kids to scout out the Ornamental gardens for an engagement shoot. That following Saturday I met up with Leneigh and Geoff at the park.

I had not met them prior to that day and was happy that the three of us had an immediate rapport.

The two of them obviously get along just swell.

The weather was absolutely wonderful for mid-October. The sun was shining and it was warm enough to walk around without jackets on. Mid-day sun can be harsh for photography, but lucky for us there were a lot of shady areas to catch these two lovebirds.

Leneigh’s eyes blew me away. They are so large and bright, and the most amazing shade of green that I have ever seen.

Leneigh told me that in the seven years they have been together, they only have a handful of photographs of the two of them together. We made sure to remedy that in the hour we spent together.

Geoff loves to pick up Leneigh.

She lets him because she loves him.

Aren’t they adorable?

Check out this huge tree.

The fall colours in the park made the day that much better.

I really like the chemistry in this next one.

So sweet.

These two seem to be perfectly matched for each other.

Overlooking the creek…

Geoff asked if he could set up a shot, and this is what he came up with:

He has a great sense of humour and makes Leneigh laugh. A lot.

The two of them have such love about them that they were a treat to photograph.

On the way out of the park we stopped and took some shots overlooking the lake.

A beautiful day with two beautiful people.

It was perfect.

Thanks, Leneigh and Geoff, for letting me caprure the joy of your engagament. I am truly looking forward to next July when I get to capture your wedding day. Congratulations!

Amanda And Her Baby Belly

September 5, 2008 | Filed Under babies, bellies, friends | 36 Comments

I have a great and wonderful friend by the name of Amanda.  We got to know each other through a Bible Study we were a part of four years ago.  That one year, with six amazing women (including Amanda), is one I will never forget.

It was Amanda who first told me what a blog even was.  It was Amanda who modeled how to make anyone and everyone feel welcome in a large group.  It is Amanda who makes me laugh harder than most people can make me laugh.  She is married to an equally hilarious husband.  We should all get to be a fly on the wall of their home.

Two years ago Amanda and I had baby girls but a few months apart.  I think that this common thread has drawn us even closer.

She is now due with Baby Girl Number Two (Overdue, actually).  I offered to do a belly shoot last week and after much debate and encouragement from her blog readers we made a date to get it done.  Here is what we came up with.

She is one of the most photogenic people I know.

Her belly in all of its glory.

This following shot is Classic Amanda.  She truly is one of the funniest people I know,

I am glad that we did this shoot, Amanda.  That little girl in your belly will have series to treasure as she grows.  She will also realize what a truly superb Momma that she has.

Hillary And Shawn

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Hillary and Shawn.

Hillary and I are “blog friends”.  Her wit and hilarity drew me in, as did the fact that she booked me to shoot her wedding knowing full well that I had not shot a single wedding at that point.

Upon meeting her and her wedding party, I knew that they were my kind of people.

Why yes, that would be a classic “Sears Pose”.

We did their formal shots at Stanley Park in Vancouver.  I suggested that Hillary and Shawn do some cute photos looking at each other while on either side of a large tree.  The goofiness continued.

Here is Hillary looking for Shawn…

Surprise!

I love these two.

While wandering the park we happened upon a few officers on motorcycles.  They were smiling as we drew near and we asked if we could possibly have photos taken with them.  They were absolutely fantastic.  They moved the bikes in front of a huge flower bed (Poor lighting, but still!) and egged the couple on.

They gave Shawn a pad of tickets and suggested that he write one for Hillary.

They also told him that if he *were* to give her a ticket, the blue copy would be the right one.

She did not seem to mind.

After all of the play time we thought we should finish the trip to Stanley Park with some formals that they could possibly frame.

I also suggested that they act like they found each other attractive.

It did not seem to be a problem.

The ceremony was held after the photos.  It was at an Irish pub in downtown Vancouver.  This pub was all sorts of awesome.  Not only that, the upper level where the ceremony was held had a ceiling of windows.  It was the perfect lighting for a perfect day.

Hillary and Shawn made their own favours for the wedding.

They kept the centerpieces casual, which was fitting with both the locale and their personalities.

They also served cupcakes from a bakery called…wait for it…Cupcakes.

They formed an integral part of the wedding cake.

Due to time constraints I did not get as many photos of the happy couple as I would have liked, but I think that the ones I did get captured the essence of the two of them.

Congratulations, Hillary and Shawn, and thank you for letting me capture your day.
